this game is not very fun at all it has alot of reading and when you die you have to start all over again and you can not skip any of the reading and every time you have to fight something you go to this stage like thing then you take turns hitting each other it is really lame I don't know why the other reviewers say it is fun I would say this is the lamest mario game I have played and I have children age 16,15 14 ,12,10,and 7 that all thinks it is pretty lame also it really blows.

LOve this game. Iv played both paper mario games. the one on the nintendo 64 and gamecube and they are awsome lol. I think the one on nintendo64 was more challenging though. But they were both great games. Even though this game is more for children, I think it is to hard for them. You have to put alot of thinking into these paper mario games. Thats why I like them so much. I can't wait to play the new paper mario on the wii.

I remember being a little kid and thinking that Paper mario was just about the best game I had ever played (outside of Ocarina of Time, of course). Now, I don't know if Paper mario for N64 was really all that exciting, or if I just didn't get out much; but when I saw that there was a Paper Mario for gamecube I just about flipped! I was really excited, and went out and bought it right away.

The gameplay is standerd mario, You cam jump or hit with a hammer, battles are fought in an RPG stage style, so that every battle, big or small, is an event in gameplay. You even have an audience that you have to cater to. And of course, everything is done in good ol' papery style. The creatures and worlds are a mix of two demensional and origami type stylings, and the game has almost matrix like cheats where you can bend the rules of the paper universe; aka fold your self up, roll into a ball, stand sideways so you become as flat as a sheet of paper...etc. ect.

The game was...interesting the first play through. Yes, there was a LOT of reading, but sometimes I can enjoy that in a game, providing that the story of the game is one of the things that really drives me to play it. The jokes were corny, but they were corny to the extent that they were still kinda funny, and I found myself laughing at the childish ridiculousness of some of the characters, and even got engaged in some of their back-stories; particularly the plot arc of Glitzville Arena, one of the levels that is played midway through the game.

Over all, PM:TYD does an alright job of mixing platforming and RPG elemtents. And the story was enough to keep me going, but the tediousness of the battle system wore me down quickly, and I found that it was hard for me to sit and play the game all the way through as fast as possible, as is my usual style. Also, the necessity of leveling the characters, in preparation for the final boss, was a little tiresome as well. I found that I had to really spend a lot of time just battling random monsters to make sure that my HP, FP, and Badge numbers were high enough to make the final boss battle even reasonable to attempt.

furthermore, as a big condemner of the game, I typically play games through multiple times over the years that I own them, because I tend to obsess about making sure that I've done and seen every element of the game. However, after one run through on my own, and watching my brother run through the game himself, I find that I pick up the game and fail to get very far before I get tired of it. It's unfortunantly the sort of game that you can only play once or twice.

however, the one time through was sufficently entertaining, and it lived up to the cheesy humour that characterizes most "Mario" titles. There are still some scenes that I laugh about with my friends who have also played it and certain scenes will definitely make you raise your eyebrows and make you say "really? REALLY?" before busting a gut over it. Particularly scenes involving a certain princess. Those who have played it, know what I'm talking about.

Overall, I'd rate this game a C+

Cheers!

Like my title says, this game is, well, AWESOME! (This is my first review, btw.)

[4.7/5] Okay, let's start with the battle mode. It's SOOOOOO much different than other RPGs, some might actually argue that it's NOT an RPG! (Witch pretty much means they're retards who don't know the definition of "Role Playing Game" They just think that they're games like Final Fantasy, or, PokEmon.) Now, Mario's basic moves include the "Jump" attack, and "Hammer" attack. And the thing that sets it apart, the "Action Commands" which have you doing stuff like "PRESS A BEFORE YOU LAND ON AN ENEMY" or "PRESS THE BUTTONS IN ORDER OF HOW THEY APPEAR ON SCREEN" like that. You also have allies, they each have 4 attacks of their own. I'll get to that later. but, overall it deserves a four and seven tenths out of five, the only reason it's not five in because some of the action commands are "REPEATEDLY PRESS R" and stuff like that, which can wear out your thumb.

[5/5] WAAAAAAAAY IMPROVED! Now, your allies have their own HP! AND They can use items. There really isn't much to say, just seven partners Goombella, Koops, Flurrie, Yoshi, Vivian, some bomb guy, and the secret Mrs Mouse, who, is, well, a Mouse.OMG IT R MOWSE! Each with their own four attacks. I'd have to give it a five out of five for SOOOO much improvement.

[4.5/5] PLOT R 2 LONG, U CAN GO LOOKY IT UP SUMWARE ELSE KTHXBAI UCANHASCHEEZBURGER

[5/5] There is WAAAAAAAAAY too much stuff to do, so many Badges to collect, so many secrets to find! It, without doubt, is five out of five, ninethousand out of ninethousand, awesome out of awesome, 3.14 out of 3.14 ect..........

[4.8/5]
