Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Stories tell of a legendary soldier who once waged war against the world. His name was Naked Snake, a.k.a. Big Boss, and the truth behind this legend will finally be told. The era is the 1970’s. Big Boss had stationed his "Soldiers Without Borders" in the steaming jungles of Colombia, South America, where he was approached by visitors from Costa Rica, a "nation without a military." In the wake of the Cuban Missile Crisis, as Latin America became a key to maintaining the power balance between East and West, Costa Rica had miraculously managed to maintain its peace and neutrality. However, in various regions of the country, a mysterious armed force seemed to be engaging in suspicious activities. Now, to preserve peace in this nation without a military, the "Soldiers Without Borders" move into action. In time, they would be known as the founders of "Outer Heaven." Forge a new path and live the legend with Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, the first official Hideo Kojima game on the PSP system.

4-player Co-op Multiplayer Action
Along with a deep single player mode Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker contains exceptional multiplayer co-op functionality. Co-op action is facilitated via the PSP's local wireless ad-hoc connection and features different types of missions. Missions more dependent on stealth are limited to two-player games, while others--for example, boss battles--are meant for games of up to four players. Players have their choice of different versions of Snake. These not only possess differing appearance, but more importantly, differing strengths. During co-op play players can pull resources by staying within a minimal distance from each other. This link is indicated by circles emanating around them. While maintaining this connection resources can be shared, including weapons, supplies and and overall health, indicated by a shared health bar. Players are able to view partner's inventory at a touch of the PSP's left or right face buttons, and when need be can resuscitate a fallen companion. When linked, players can also move in unison by virtually tapping your partner's shoulder with a touch of the D-pad and then making your move.

2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo
With 2GB of memory, the included compact Memory Stick PRO Duo allows you to save your PlayStation Network downloads, as well as store your videos, photos, music and more.

PlayStation Store Downloadable Movie Voucher
More than just a gaming device, the PSP-3000 Limited Edition Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Entertainment Pack includes a PlayStation Network downloadable movie voucher (title to be announced).

5 out of 5 stars Great system... game ehhh...   September 6, 2010

To be honest, not a big fan of Metal Gear Solid after the PS1 version. I just bought this because I wanted a green PSP. The game is decent. Has some fun aspects, but I'm just not into it. PSP is great though.

5 out of 5 stars Finally PSP!   August 29, 2010
death gleamer (Los Angeles, CA)
This game system is great. Huge screen, 4.3 inches. Nice graphics ability, pretty much condensed version of Playstation 2. Prior to buying this system I've been playing Game Boy Advance SP for years, it was enjoyable but it was time to upgrade. I thought about getting Nintendo DS many times over the years but always held back because IMO the graphics is pretty much the same as GBA. Even after so many years I was shocked to research and learn that most games are lame. Nintendo DS XL is disappointing, same resolution as regular DS. PSP although technically impressive was too expensive and games were lame when it was launched. However over the years it seems PSP do have staying power and trumps the DS in every aspect.

The UMD disc drive is a fatal flaw designed by Sony. The drive is mechanical so it hogs huge battery life and drive life is limited. Plus annoying game loading time! And noise.... Sony should've done flash memory/card technology, UMD was designed to defeat piracy but IMO it was a dumb design overall.

I picked this spirit green bundle instead of camo bundle. The matte camo bundle comes with 4 gig memory card instead of 2 plus a protective pouch for the same price, but it was too ugly. The spirit green is beautiful, looks like gemstone emerald.

I might have considered PSP Go if the screen wasn't 3.8 inches. PSP 3000 have 4.3 inches. Just because of this fact all considerations for buying PSP Go stopped.

Overall this is a great handheld system.

5 out of 5 stars Love It!   August 24, 2010
Maryann Tatro (Western MA USA)
I gave my husband my last PSP, so when I saw this great entertainment pack I just had to have it. The spirited green is luscious and Peace Walker is a blast, plus a 2gb memory card. If you're looking for a hand held gaming console psp is ftw. I own a DSi XL and it's a good system, but for the type of games I like to play: God of War , Dante's Inferno, Crisis Core, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, etc... the PSP is hands down my favorite. Regarding the 2012 download, I would have preferred a umd, but I downloaded it to my PS3 and it was pretty good movie.

4 out of 5 stars A Great Deal with one small Problem   July 19, 2010
Bookwurmneo
The PSP Peace walker bundle as described comes with A Green PSP 3000, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker UMD with a voucher for a extra character and weapon, a voucher for 2012 and a 2 GB movie.

The PSP

The PSP 3000 is a great deal for a portable game system, especially if you have and use a PS3 alot. Video quality when is very good and with screen ratio feels like you have a mini HD tv in your hands. A slight problem with the video playback is that the psp only handles a limited amount of file formats and codecs compared to the PS3 so I've had instances where I've loaded movies that work on my PS3 to my PSP and then can't be played. It's a minor caveat which can be easily remedied thru the use of a converter which can be easily found online. When it comes to games ( the biggest aspect of a Video game system) the PSP doesn't fail to deliver. While the DS has a larger library, the PSP library is large enough that are enought games to insure you will always have a good choice of games. What really sells the PSP for me is that the library becomes extended thanks to the remote play option as well as the vast library of games available on the PSN which includes PSone Classics and Minis(byte sized game experiences for a small price. The Green color of the PSP is great looks a lot better than the pictures would lead you to believe.

The Game
Metal gear Solid: Peace Walker is a great addition to the Metal Gear line and a great game for the PSP. While the controls takes sometime to get used to and isn't precise as one would like, the game is alot of fun. Missions are pretty quick and most can be finish between 20 minutes or less. The Story is about 25 missions long and a good chunk of the game becomes unlocked after the final boss battle. There is also a good amount of stragety in between missions as you manage your army and develop new weapons and tools. The Story isn't as complicated as it's home console comrades and there aren't as many long scenes either.

The Bundle
The bundle comes with three extras: a code to unlock a new character and weapon in the game, a movie voucher and the 2gb memory stick. the new character is pretty strong especially if you unlock him at first chance and it should be noted that the weapon can only be used in co-op. My biggest problem with the bundle is thefact that 2gb card is too small. The movie when downloaded takes is bigger than 2 GB and for optimal playing conditions you should have another GB free for Peace Walkers install data and saves. Hence the problem if one actually wants to watch the movie they will need buy a larger memory stick which I would recommend any as to get full used the PSP especially if you use the PSN you should have at least an 8GB stick, I'me using a 16GB and it's more than half full.
