5 out of 5 stars Challenging but enjoyable   July 28, 2010

If you're looking for strategy or unique puzzles with a creative fantasy idea, this is the game for you. If you love the original Bejeweled games, then you will like this version as well.
Some of the elements are new that aren't seen in other Bejeweled versions. They might take a little bit of practice, but that's part of the fun. Part of this involves a good amount of thinking. It has a perfect amount of action so you can focus on winning the levels.
This type of Bejeweled tends to be less stringent and cuts you some slack, so it's not overly stressful if you can't pass a certain level you have trouble on, or you can't figure out how to do something.
However, this game is not completely different. The gems are the same, and you will recognize things from the previous Bejeweled games that will satisfy you a lot.
It still has its Sci-Fi atmosphere to it, so if you like the abstract backgrounds and settings, then this will be good for you. It's also nice that you can compete with other people in multiplayer mode, so your friends can join in the fun!
Overall, rotating the gems in Bejeweled Twist is just as much fun as switching the gems in other games. Pop Cap made another great Bejeweled video game! It is very addicting and I highly recommend this if you are thinking about owning it.

I've been playing Bejeweled on my cell phone for years! I still like it better, but this is good for a change of pace once in awhile.

5 out of 5 stars Its NO Tetris, but interesting game to play   July 15, 2010

Bejeweled Twist is unlike the first two computer games I have. It is faster and more of a challedge for all you love clasic bejewelled

What I find interesting is the bombs that will set off ay any time.

It will interest you and drag you into playing and again. It does not need that over drawn role play..the games are fast and lively

4 out of 5 stars It's no tetris, but fun none the less.   July 2, 2010

I never played the original Bejeweled, but Twist is certainly another respectable entry from PopCap (maker of Plants vs Zombies). The game is basically matching rows of gems to break them while trying to chain breaks together for increased points.

When I first played this game, I was confused by the complete lack of challenge. The only mode that is unlocked from the start is a training mode called Zen. There are no dangers. You just match jewels forever apparently to get the feel of the game and test strategies.

The actual game is called Classic which unlocks after playing Zen. Here there are progressing levels of difficulty involving locked gems and bombs. It's really not worth discussing in detail. The challenge is in figuring out the strategies that work for you.

There are a number of other modes to unlock that are discussed in the manual. There's multiplayer as well. You can play with the gamepad or the stylus. I find the stylus play rather annoying and opted for the pad. One thing I don't like about this game is that you can only twist gems in one direction. It plays into the difficulty, but also makes it tedious at times.

This is a fine game at a decent price. You can spend many hours wasting away in this game. It's not too frantic and can be rather challenging. It does not compare to Tetris, however, as far as I am concerned. Good old Tetris is one of the most fulfilling puzzle-type games. Bejeweled is more of a trial and error type game where things you didn't intend to happen may happen to your benefit. Tetris is far more deliberate and therefore more rewarding.

3 out of 5 stars Bejewled with a Twist   July 2, 2010

I've been dying to play this since the R4 i have can not emulate this, so I bought it cheap off Ebay. Now that I have it, I'm kinda disappointed I'd been hanging out so long to play it. This is not the bejeweled game, but bejeweled twist.. which in some ways, many people may prefer over the original. In the old game you would move one jewel at a time to line them up, in this version you must twist around a circle of 4 jewels to make up the matches, and even tho I prefer it the old way by being able to move one block, I can see people may like this version as it eliminates the "no more moves" option, plus you can move the jewels from the bottom of the grid to the top by rotating them around (if you play the game this will make sense) to where you want, as the rotate action stays in the position you rotate it to, and doesn't just spin back to the original position if it doesn't match up.

The above screen shows what colors you need to match up for extra points etc.. there is also some bonus gems along the way such as lightning shots that you get when you join 5 or 6 gems in a row, and a fire gem by doing 4 or so... one blows up a few gems around you, the other shoots the lines out up and to the sides to destroy those blocks.. there is also bomb gems that you need to get rid of by matching them before the timer runs down.. there is a few others as you progress as well.

Unless there is more games to unlock, I must say this lacks a lot of options. It has two standard modes of play, and neither of them seem much different then the other one. I don't know why they could not also include the original Bejeweled game with this release, it couldn't be that hard to have included it would it? Hopefully it may be hidden in the game as something to unlock, but so far I haven't come across any cheat/hints mentioning anything else in this game at all.

I would recommend you see how cheap you can find this game for, as it really does not hold much more value then 10-15 bucks imho.
