EA Sports Active Gameplay
Designed around the standard Wii Remote/Nunchuck tethered controller configuration, EA Sports Active's interactive fitness program is more focused on physical activities than previous 'fitness' titles for the Wii, but still challenges you to have fun while developing a more healthy lifestyle. Separated into the three sections of workout, nutrition, lifestyle, and other activity, the user's experience begins with a pep talk from Bob Greene which quickly transitions into the beginnings of action as players set up profiles, choose a virtual personal trainer and enter baseline data like age, weight, gender, fitness goals, etc. Although the nutrition, lifestyle, and other activity sections add a holistic element facilitated by a mix of surveys and data input, building fitness through physical activity is the driving force behind EA Sports Active, and as such the meat of the content resides in the workout section. Here players will find dozens of themed strength training and cardio workouts which can be customized as you choose and linked into circuit training routines. These routines are introduced and monitored by your personal trainer, and allow for ongoing player motivation via real-time feedback on your workout form, an approximation of calories burned and the ability to adjust levels of exercise intensity.

Key Game Features

  • 35+ New Exercises - EA Sports Active More Workouts keeps your workout fresh with over 35 all new exercises and fitness activities.
  • Warm Up and Cool Down Stations - 4 new exercises designed to warm up your body before a workout routine and 4 cool down exercises designed to stretch the muscles after a workout and help maintain flexibility.
  • 6 Week Challenge - A total body, structured fitness plan that accommodates both experienced 30 Day Challengers and new users of EA Sports Active. It works out all major body parts, adapts to your level of fitness and lets you track your progress week by week. With the weekly check-in you can track your weight, calories and workouts and compare your progress to previous weeks.
  • Compatibility with EA Sports Active Personal Trainer - Get rewarded for your progress with EA Sports Active Personal Trainer, More Workouts will transfer your details like age, weight, name and gender. It will also recognize your workout information from the previous 4 weeks with EA Sports Active Personal Trainer, so you get to keep your trophies and completed goals.
  • Fitness Book - Get fitness and nutrition tips from professionals with the included Fitness Book. This book will help you keep going on your journey to better health with tips, tricks and advice on good nutrition and fitness.
  • Multiplayer Support - Enjoy extensive multiplayer support that allows you to workout with a buddy (additional EA Sports Active exercise accessories not included).

5 out of 5 stars No fuss workout...with results!   September 3, 2010
Bargain Shopper (Charlotte, NC)
I've been doing EA Active (Original and More Workouts) since the start of the year (gift to myself!). I really like these workouts, being able to work out at home removes so many of the obstacles that kept me away from the gym for SO long!

This isn't a weak workout either; when I first started I was so sore every day! Fortunately, I'm not as sore but it still makes me break a sweat. I really like the variety of the workouts in More Workouts because it gets your brain engaged not just your body. The first EA Active was really boring and I found myself just staring at the counter for each activity. With More Workouts you are so focused on "winning" each activity that you don't realize how many you are doing. That's saying a lot for me b/c I am not someone who usually gets into working out!

I can't say exactly how beneficial this has been from a pounds perspective, but my clothes are loose and I need to go buy new stuff - so that's good! It also feels really good to finish a workout and not feel like I'm about to have a heart attack, yeah for improving cardiovascular health!

Overall, I recommend this workout to anyone who will listen! No remembering your gym clothes, getting gawked at at the gym or boring time on the treadmill. It's great!

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing   August 30, 2010

I like the first EA active. This one was very disappointing to me. I like the sports-type exercises, and this one has only 2 new ones- paddling and waterskiing. The squash is just a re-hash of tennis from the first one, while the boxing is the same as the first one, just featuring a person instead of targets. Very limited selection of stuff compared to the original EA active.

4 out of 5 stars EA Sports Active: More Workouts   August 27, 2010

This is a wonderful addition to EA Sports Active. I love all the new & different exercises and activities such as, ab workouts, follow the leader, boxing/sparing. There is so much variety and it is so fun. I love the step aerobics & the boxing/sparing. So fun & a great workout!!!

5 out of 5 stars ACTIVE IS RIGHT!!!!   August 27, 2010
Dawayne Green
I brought this for my wife because she wanted a gym membership and this does not last that long. It is a workout! I watch her sweat like she have been working out in a gym for hours. This made me join in. It is done in the privacy of our home and it's fun. The only thing my wife complains about the nunchuck when it is in the scrap sometimes do not respond and she end up doing more reps this is not a big problem everything happens for a reason >_<. Overall this is very good to have if you want to sweat and have fun doing it.

5 out of 5 stars Controling My Blood Glucose Levels   August 22, 2010
Ramona NotThePest (Brooklyn, NY)
I purchased this product (EA Sports Active - More Workouts) and Personal Trainer to add as a supplement to my exercise DVDs and my Aerobic Walking I do outside. I thought it would just be a "little" supplement. However, this kicked my behind and dropped my glucose levels lower than they have ever been since I was diagnosed a Type II diabetic. I'm not really in it to get a buff body; although since starting this I've dropped from 138 to 133, in all of two weeks, but I just want to make sure my Type II is under control using lifestyle, food and exercise and this seems to have done the trick and gotten me to levels I didn't think I could every get. My numbers were all ready great because I would put in 40-50 miles a week of fast walking with an added three days of resistance training; but the circuit type activities allows me to get even better numbers then I could ever have imagined in 2/3rd less time.
