This game is FUN! An extremely solid well made game. September 5, 2010 Hey Man Jesus Saves (In the palm of God, man.) Crackdown 2 is without a doubt a very fun and enjoyable game. I never played Crackdown 1. As for Crackdown 2, I've been playing it now for several days and I'm having a blast with it. I bought this game because I wanted to wear cool looking upgradeable armor (check), run around killing everything in my path that isn't on my side, hoodlums and mutant FREAKS! (check), all the while using huge powerful weapons and being able to level up my speed, power, strength and abilities making me more and more invincible as the game progresses (check). It's got everything I wanted and expected from THIS game. Bottom line, it's fun. It has a fun factor of WOW! The controls are superb, the ambience is perfect, the narration that accompanies you along your way is HILARIOUS and enjoyable (Just makes you feel good knowing you have the voice of the Agency on your side as you clean up the city). My Police Officer neighbor borrowed my game, fell in love with it instantly and now he went out and bought it too! I can't wait to try the multiplayer co-op with him.
If you're sitting on the fence over whether or not to buy it, jump down into the store and get it. If you like shooters, buy it. I have long hair and I love the Lord Jesus! And I want to thank God for such a wonderful game as Crackdown 2! Thanks God! (Spoken while pointing both index fingers toward the Heavens). Let's hope and pray there is a Crackdow 3, it would be a shame if this series came to an end. Crackdown 2 is SO MUCH FUN!
improved gameplay but loss of everything else August 31, 2010 Poshu Oshu (Dallas, TX) i loved crackdown 1, seriously one of the most underrated early xbox games. this one is good, but not that good. they really improved on the agent mechanics, the abilities you gain as you level up are far and away better and more impressive than before, having a real melee system is a god send, being able to pick up a lamp post and baseball bat some poor schmuck is almost worth the loss of a cohesive story, key word being almost. for all the neat stuff they added to your character they took away something in the enemy department. instead of gang liutenents you take out to get more info and weaken a gang leader. you have one gang with no leaders and just bases that you have to eliminate by killing a set number of enemy troops. which in case anyone missed it was probably the most irritating part of crackdown 1, the constantly respawning enemies in basses. it made killing gang officers like a mad smash and grab or an assasination, which was fun, but this is no more grab, it's just smash.
the other thing is the freaks. the occasional freaks of the last game were an interesting add on and i wouldv'e liked more of them. but this is way too much. at night the streets are flooded with freaks, wall to wall. it's not so bad really but the entire city? they couldv'e done it to a few slums or maybe just one of the 3 islands. and the freaks are removed by the very same means as the gangs, a few isolated bases where you defend a light bomb till it detonates and removes the freaks from the surrounding area. not the worst idea ever but with that being all there is it's like the game has become one big collectible sandbox. it feels like there is no game here, just a base that if you put a story into it might be fun to run.
the only other really big gripe i have is with the agent looks, they are all the same, you have 4 heads to choose from but once you level up once the heads are covered so the only difference between each agent online is color. i much much prefered the different heads that evolved as you leveled up, gave your agent some character and some uniqueness. overall i'd say this is a downgrade and really makes me pine for the days of crackdown 1.
This is a great rental August 17, 2010 Christopher Mcintyre (Los Angeles) I don't think this game is worth purchasing.
It is totally fun, just like the first game.
But after about 12 - 15 hours of messing around, you'll look for something better to do.
Multiplayer is horrible, and I'm not sure if anyone plays it online anymore.
But this is a great rental, you will enjoy it. It's just not worth $60, or $50, or $40, or even $30.
More of the same, gets old fast August 13, 2010 T. Obermueller Its pretty much the exact same environment with a slight post-apocalyptic feel. The zombies seem like a cop-out for not having a legitimate story like the first Crackdown did. The game can get frustrating at times and it has some of the same issues and glitches that its predecessor had. The missions aren't very diverse to the point where it seems like your just completing the same monotonous tasks over and over again. The developers attempted to make this seem like a a sequel with a few new vehicles and weapons, which aren't especially great. Overall it was enjoyable and the best feature is definitely the multiplayer capabilities of the game.
Same as Crackdown August 13, 2010 Gertmm I enjoyed playing crackdown 2, but also enjoy the first one. Was some what disappointed because game felt more like a dlc than full game. worth owning but wait for it to be discounted.
