Amazon.com Product Description
Welcome to The Show all-star. The best selling and highest rated baseball franchise on the PlayStation 2 platform is back in MLB 10: The Show throwing you into an unsurpassed baseball experience where big moments come alive. It's all here too; from classic local multiplayer options, AI improvements and revamped versions of your favorite game modes, to new personalized batting stances and Joe Mauer, newly crowned American League MVP, as the new cover athlete. Get ready. The Show is about to begin and you are leading off. Take the Road to the Show Road to the Show is the signature game mode in MLB 10: The Show for PlayStation 2. Create and customize a player and put him through a set of interactive training routines that will build his skills and prepare him to make the leap from the Bush leagues, to the Majors. Once he joins an organization, the player controls his/her created character's individual career, gaining skill points earned through accomplishing goals that are handed down by the team manager. Keep your stats sheet headed in the right direction though, because points can also be deducted for goals not met, resulting in a career showing not even close to something you would see in Coopers Town. Build skills to get to The Show and beyond. View larger. | Rivalry Mode Baseball is full of history, not the least of which includes historic rivalries. Best baseball game ever June 1, 2010 Brian Green (Dillsburg, Pa.) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
To get started this is the best baseball game ever. The graphics are great and the gameplay its self are great! There are a couple of game modes you can play. You can play a season, home run derby, franchise, exibition and road to the show. I am currently in a season with my phillies. Its not too hard and not too easy. Its a great game for any baseball fan. So overall it is a great game. I highly recommend you to get this game.
MLB BASEBALL 2010 May 22, 2010 James A. Fuller (calif) BOUGHT FOR MY GRANSONS BIRTHDAY,THE DAY I CALLED TO SEE IF HE GOT IT HE WAS PLAYING IT AND HE LOVED IT AND HIS DAD DID TOO SO IT SEEMS TO BE A WINNER.
More Realistic... May 17, 2010 Sean Parauka (Orange, CT United States) For 3 years, I had completed 6.5 seasons using MLB07. I didn't want to get the new version because I built such a foundation with the 2007 version but after 6 seasons, the rosters were WAY out of whack and too many computer created players on MLB rosters with the same faces!
This new version has its ups and downs. First, the graphics are poorer than MLB07. For example, Mark Teixeira is as white as a ghost. The fieling is a bit better. One plus side is the reality of the game. On MLB07, I was playing using "Hall of Fame" difficulty. In this version, I'm using "Veteran" and am facing a bigger challenge than 07's top level offered. I actually have tough down-to-the-wire games, even with the best of rosters. From that standpoint, it is more realistic with player stats and standings. In MLB07, all of my players batted .300+ and 7 of my 9 batters had over 100 RBIs. In this game, the numbers are more realistic as players hit hold/cold streaks like real life. Pitching is more realistic as well. Just as in real life pitchers have excellent, good and poor days.
One downside is the batting mode. I've adjusted the hell out of the batting sliders. In 07, I didn't have to adjust anything. In this version, for a player who in real life is MVP quality you have to increase the sliders when batting in order to get some real contact hits. Plus, if you call the right pitch and location, let's say it's going to be a fastball Low-Inside corner, the PCI will be stuck on middle-inside. Where to go from there is still tough to figure out. Whether or not to use the L stick a lot or just a little is a mystery still. It seems that if the PCI is an inch or two above the ball dot, just slightly move the L stick down, but the PCI doesn't move. Need to guess what part of the plate your batter is covering. After 3 months of a season, I'm just starting to get the hang of it.
So, if you want a more realistic game that will provide a bigger challenge, this is it.
MLB 10 The Show - Realistic May 9, 2010 boblbu The Pros:
Realistic, great graphics,
The Cons:
Difficult fielding, no way to make the fielder run faster after a ball, leading to a lot of missplayed balls.
Pitching Box does not display accurately the Strike zone. You put the ball in the strike zone box and more times then not it's called a ball, very frustrating.
Hitting is Ok but if you don't crank the sliders all the way up you might never get a hit, frustrating.
Does not display info or name of the hitter when he's up. Scorecard info and season info.
When pressing the L2 button to get info it stays onscreen for about 1/2 second. Why have this option if the user can't review it?
I'm a user who just wants to play the game in season mode, period & don't need all the other options included. Probably less is more in this case.
