Great console. Good variety of games that are still compatible with this version. I've had no complaints since I received it.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome *inexpensive* gaming experience   July 10, 2010

Within the past year, I've purchased the Wii and the Xbox 360 for my family. My wife loves the excercise titles on the Wii and DDR titles on both consoles. My 7-year old and her friends love the Wii Sports and other kids games. I enjoy the superior graphics and gaming experience on the 360. I am planning to get a PS3 next year. I had never even considered purchasing the PS2. Like some of the reviewers that one-starred the PS2, I wondered why it was even being sold anymore when there's superior gaming consoles available.
Well, my little brother still has his PS2, so I would play it sometimes when I went to his house. The games certainly didn't have the same quality graphics as the 360 or PS3 obviously, but they were fun. I noticed that most PS2 games sell for really cheap on Amazon, so I picked up a few games to take over with me to his place when I would visit. I love classic fighting games, so I was very pleased to find the Street Fighter collections and King of Fighter series on the PS2. Not to mention Soul Calibur 2 & 3 along with several Tekken and Mortal Kombat titles. You've also got the classic GTA titles, God of War 1 & 2, Castlevania, Jaws, and the list goes on. My wife was excited to find out there are seven DDR titles and my kid loves the Eye-Toy games. That was enough to sell us. It's been three months since we got the PS2 and we love it and play it just as much as the other systems. The other great thing is that we've been able to bulk up our PS2 game library at only a fraction of the cost of the other two consoles.
Now I know why Sony is still shipping PS2s and people are still buying them even after a decade; It still delivers a high-quality gaming experience which is not too far away from the 360 and PS3, and it does so at a lower cost. I think the only people who wouldn't like the PS2 in this day and age are die-hard gamers who demand nothing less than the best current 7th-gen graphics and online experience. For lighter gamers such as myself and for families who are looking for alternate gaming entertainment besides the Wii, the PS2 has a lot to offer.

I got the PS2 in 2005-2006 as a gift when my mom got payed. I have around 10 games for it and it's lasted to this day. (Although I don't play it too often since I have a Wii) After all the stuff it's been through, it's still in great condition. I'd reccomend this to anyone who's looking for a cheap, but great console.

I received the console very fast. But the cables were in bad conditions and the controller was missing. I contacted the seller asking for refunding but they offered their apologies and told me they were going to send new cables and two controllers instead of one. I accepted, and very soon I received the stuff as they had promised. I'm very happy, the console was in good conditions. There was a little issue with it but we were able to solve it easily.
