complete disappointment.... September 10, 2010 C. Wong (philadelphia, pa) I have bought every single Madden the 1st day it came out for years....as a Madden fanatic I was exited to get my hands on a copy of this brand new Madden 11....I started playing the game...I get sacked... ok maybe it's me.. 2nd play i pick a run...get tackled... then I figured out you have to use the analog stick to move.. this game is simply not playable. You can't run..can't tackle game is horrible. DO NOT BUY! I gave it 1 star because that's the lowest I can give otherwise I would give it 0 stars
More offense and less defense September 8, 2010 D. Pearl As a long time Madden player, I am a little disappointed with this years installment of the game I have loved and played since 1993. The offenses seem almost unstoppable (much like Madden '95), even without the turbo option (it is turned off in default mode). While last year's game was easy for defenses to pick off passes, this year's game is 99% harder. I went four straight games playing against an opponent before an interception occurred, where as in Madden 10 there were several picks per game.
Another feature that is no longer there is hot routes for the wide receivers. Why on earth get rid of that?? Defenses also can do fewer tweaks and adjustments before the snap, making it almost a game in which if you call the right offensive or defensive play call, you have a good chance at being successful no matter if you control it or simply let the computer do it. Before last year, I had always played Maddens on the PS2 or PS1, and I honestly think those were the games that were the best because it meant skill players can still do well even with inferior teams. Now, if you play a team like the Rams against the Vikings, an unskilled, and inexperienced player can actually win based on the computer controlling so much of the game. Before, the more skilled player would always prevail.
New technology doesn't always mean its a better game, and that's definitely the case with Madden 11.
Why Did They Mess It UP!!!! September 8, 2010 Smitty (Arlington, TX) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Disappointed and not worth a penny over $25. I should have stayed with Madden 10. Madden 10 by far one of the best Maddens to date. This one almost went back to the stick figures, shadow players, Commentary terrible.
As bad as it gets September 6, 2010 R. A Massa (upstate NY) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you thought past years editions of Madden seemed simulated, cartoonish and rigged this years Madden 2011 is the worst...especially online. The new gamepad screen option needlessly re-complicates a past smooth process. I used to play a decent Defense cant stop anything this year, BAD TOO simulated MADDEN11 is BAD!!! Play last years madden save your money. I have to give Backbreaker another chance. Madden 11 is a joke and worst yet ITS BORING!
its madden, but it could have been better September 6, 2010 Nicholas Gaboury (NORTH SALEM, NEW YORK, US) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've been playing madden a long time and a lot of the changes they made this year were geared towards people that are just starting to play the game. The new play calling feature, "gamegflow" is cool if you don't know much about football, but its nice that you can change it back to conventional playcalling and take full control of the team. I got used to the no sprint button very quickly and don't miss it at all now, you can focus on other moves.
I really like the tackling, blocking, running game mechanics. The players move realistically and the physics seem realistic and unique for each situation. I was disappointed that franchise mode hasn't changed at all from last year because that's what I play mostly.
Bottomline: It's a fun game if you setup the options to your liking, but could have been better. 7/10
